What is the Stack Effect?

The stack effect is a continuous cycle of air movement in houses with a chimney or a flue. Warm air escapes up the chimney and is replaced by cold air drawn in through gaps under doors, around windows, through floorboards and the building fabric.
In simple terms, a chimney has an effect like a window left constantly open.

Can I use the Fireplace Heatsaver when the fire is operating?

What if I want to use my fire?

Simply remove the Fireplace Heatsaver from in front of your fire and store until needed.

Yes, the Fireplace Heatsaver has two small gaps at the bottom corners to allow a trickle of air to vent the chimney to prevent damp.

How long can I leave the Fireplace Heatsaver in place?

You can leave the Fireplace Heatsaver in place for as long as you want, reducing draughts, saving energy and saving money.

How do I know what size of Fireplace Heatsaver I need?

Measure the height and width of the minimum size rectangular flat area immediately around all of the fire and the grate and hood etc. projection. Check these dimensions to the standard heatsaver internal dimension, height 660mm, width 630mm and projection 117mm. If our standard size Heatsaver does not enclose the fire, a larger Heatsaver can be made. Alternatively, a flat fitting Slimline Heatsaver may be suitable if there is a suitable flat area to cover.
